Ann DeRosier's
PASTEL WORKSHOP 2009
Relax and Refresh......
Central Missouri is the perfect place to enjoy outdoor beauty, to learn new pastel techniques and to drink in the flavors of the summer.
Ann DeRosier, artist and art teacher from Jefferson City, will be holding a 5 -day workshop (Sunday - Thursday) this summer, June 21-25, 2009, in Hermann. Classes will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday and then at 9:00 a.m. thereafter, ending with a art show Thursday morning. Each class will include a 45 minute to one hour demonstration and lesson. The class will then be challenged to use the new techniques on 3-4 pastel paintings during the week.
- We will work locally in the Old Town for day 1 and day 2 focusing on buildings and foliage. Day 3 will find us focusing on water from a creek, lake or river and a vast assortment of trees, lighting, colorations and textures. Strong attention to good composition will be emphasized. Day 4 will deal with depth and atmospheric perspective as we do panoramas of the Missouri hills, the Missouri or Osage Rivers. Critiques will be held every morning during the classes. Also on Day 4, Thursday, we will have a demonstration of the specific matting and framing pastels works. If you have any pastel lessons from your classes, if you are an art teacher, please, bring them to share with the group on Thursday. We can all learn from each other.
- Gathering together for socializing in the late afternoon and evening will be offered. That is the perfect time to talk about art issues, challenges of the day and to just get to know each other.
- Those desiring college credit, either undergraduate or graduate, may obtain that from Lincoln University for $60.00 per credit hour. They will award 2 credits for the workshop. Please let me know if you are interested in this. You can email me with your questions at missphoebe@embarqmail.com. I have the forms from Lincoln University that you will fill out at the workshops. I will collect their fees at that time and send the paperwork in as a group. A written paper is required from the workshop that is to be turned in at a later date.
Bed and Breakfasts are abundant in Hermann, as well as, several motels. Please see www.hermannmissouri.com for a listing.
