Biography
A native of mid-Missouri, Ann DeRosier grew up with the influences of her European ancestors on her thinking and her artwork. The architecture, home artwork, and teaching from various schools stressed traditional basics in thought and artistic expression. She developed a strong sense of structure and discipline in her early works and she values this as a good beginning in other's artwork. However, through her own development and understanding, the element of expression of the soul has taken on a more important role.
With the technical basics of the elements and principles of art, one can then be free to express the innermost meanderings of the mind in color and other experimentations.
Ann has received a B.S. in art, a teaching certificate, and a Master's degree. She has taught elementary, college, and is currently teaching at Jefferson City High School. Ann has painted professionally since 1976, specializing in portraiture. She has a studio in her home.
